About
Orienting technological progress toward human ends.
Artificial intelligence and other transformative technologies may significantly expand what human beings are capable of. They may also reshape work, institutions, relationships, culture, and our understanding of human agency itself.
Much of the conversation around these technologies is framed as a choice between resistance and acceleration. I am interested in a different question: how can technological progress remain oriented toward human ends?
This work draws on ideas across artificial intelligence, philosophy, economics, human enhancement, institutional design, and the study of human flourishing.
